“Cortona is the mother of Troy and grandmother of Rome”. Cortona is one of the most delightful, very cozy hill towns in Tuscany.

The city is located north of Lake Trasimeno in the Tuscany region, southeast of the city in province Arezzo. Cortona and his panoramic view to the valley Val di Chiana is famous for its tourist attractions. These are remains left by ancient populations, such as Etruscans and Romans. Much appreciated for example are the “Etruscan walls” or the numerous remains of Roman roads. Cortona, originally founded by the Etruscans under the name “Curtun,” still retains many of its original remains from the Etruscan period. It also boasts a rich history, including stories of famous Renaissance artists such as Luca Signorelli and Beato Angelico, as well as Pietro di Cortona from the Baroque period. Frances Mayes, american writer, created in Cortona heartwarming true story, “Under the Tuscan Sun,” and the popular film it inspired, has brought millions of tourists to Cortona. This humble working man’s town has become an international destination. There are more than 20 churches concentrated here with a stunningly clean atmosphere and incredible beauty and antiquity. There are many picturesque roads for walking and cycling. Shops and restaurants will not leave you indifferent.
