And we know it very deep, because we was living here more then 17 years. Beautiful beaches with velvety white sand, emerald sea with many colorful fish and refreshing coconuts straight from the palm trees and many gorgeous villas – that’s why Phuket is a tropical paradise. It is the largest island in Thailand, located in the south of the country, in the Andaman Sea of the Indian Ocean.

Between Phuket and Bangkok 850 kilometers. Most of the island’s territory (70%) is occupied by hills covered with tropical forests. The highest point of Phuket is Mountain Khao Mai Thao Sip Song, 523 m above sea level. Small mountain rivers of the island form picturesque waterfalls.

There are several versions of the origin of the name of the island: the first version says that the reason is the Malay word “bukit”, which means “hill”, according to the second version, the name “Phuket” comes from the word “phu” (Thai word), translated as “mountains”. Phuket, together with 32 small islands, makes up a separate province of Thailand, the basis of the economy of which is international tourism, the extraction of natural rubber tree, fishing.

Of the 300 thousand people in the province, about 60% are Thais who profess Buddhism; 35% are descendants of Malay tribes professing Sunni Islam, as well as Chinese, Europeans, Russians, Hindus, Arabs. In the nineteenth century, this city was a major trading center.
